Dear Pastor:

On January 17, 2002, the Louisiana Department of Environmental Quality held a public hearing on the permit application of ExxonMobils request to release an additional 649 tons of pollution into the air.    Only five citizens were present at that meeting.  We requested an extension of time and received 5 working days to inform the citizens and obtain their opinions on paper.  Shauna Sanford of Channel 9 WAFB news  did a story on the issue.   We were able to collect 590 written comments from residents, young and old who live in East Baton Rouge Parish.  We turned in those comments on January 25th.   Thanks to a phone call by Senator Cleo Fields we were granted additional time to obtain comments from the people until 4:00 p.m.  February 8, 2002.

We are holding a briefing for those people who would like to find out more about this issue, volunteer in obtaining comments, or to support us in other ways.    This informational meeting will be held on Thursday, January 31, 2002, at 4:30 pm Orries Café- at the corner of Government and Eddie Robinson Blvd.  If you are interested in hosting an informational meeting or in obtaining comment forms please contact us at the above address or call 233-6494.

Prayerfully yours,

Stephanie Anthony, President
